MAF differances

I have read in some of the postings regaurding alternate MAF sensors and I see that some are using the Imapala one and other are using the LS1. Are there any other differances than the Impala being 3" and the LS1 being 3.5". I have a 3' MAF chrome pipe and I am not sure what I need to do as far as which MAF sensor to use. I do understand that I will have to use a translator on what ever one I chose.

That pretty much covers it. I tried 3" and 3.5" sensors back to back at the track, with no other changes the car picked up 2 lbs of boost just from installing the 3.5".
