Hi,
My 87 TR's MAF sensor just failed the other day. I have the sensor attached to the alternator bracket. I've heard that this could cause MAF sensor failure and now that mine has failed, I'm wondering as well.

Anyone had this problem? Any suggestions on the possibility of failure due to excessive vibrations?

Thanks.

Yes, vibrations can lead to MAF failure. The factory MAF's are brittle.

A better solution is to mount the MAF to a bracket that mounts to the factory airbox stand on the frame. ATR sells these or you can make your own from a piece of aluminum or steel sheet metal.

I can post a pattern if you need.

I have an 8" cone air filter setup. How would your bracket work with this setup? Would it be better to leave it unattached rather than the current bracket attachment to the alternator. My only concern is the sensor touching the radiator hose and causing damage to it.

Thanks,
