I have a 87 t-type that I am trying to figure out what all mods have been done to it. Almost all work was done 15+ years ago.

This weekend I took off the K Bell intake and was shocked to see the MAF sensor crudely located (raw cut and silicone) in base of K&N filter. Whats the thoughts on "ideal" location?

I appreciate all the enthusiasm everyone here has.

Pretty much everyone who upgrades the intake runs the MAF connected to the air filter in that way. K &N filter should be 3" and will fit snuggly over MAF sensor. The other end just connects to the MAF pipe with a silicone hose. I don't have any pictures of it but search the site for engine bay pics and you will see what I mean.

OK - I was a little off. It's not the MAF, after more research it appears to be the IAT. I see a couple of pics showing them in the base of the air filter, but can't imagine others are mounted as crude as this one. Looks like they cut open an "X" with a util knife then siliconed in. Definitely allowing air in around it. I assume I can move this to a pipe mount, before the (real) MAF?

you can move it but usually I drill a 1/2" hole in the filter neck and thread it in, much easier to do and seal than the pipe
