what's really out there. When the scientists speak in light yrs, it amazes me to no end, what we are really a part of. Calculating how far a light yr is, surely won't be done on a "regular calculator"!
These pictures are absolutely mind boggling!
I frequently think of getting a good telescope, and looking at what we are surrounded with...
That hobby would most certainly be a LOT less money, than these turds we work on!!

That is truly amazing. We are definitely a small fish in a big pond. Crazy to think about what all is out there!

And the sunlight takes 8 minutes to get to earth. Even that is very far in our terms. Crazy!

Good stuff there sir.

I have enjoyed studying the universe for years.

I know quite a bit and when it comes up in conversation i actually get stunned looks when i start describing things.

I miss the thread we had going a couple of years ago. I shared and learned a lot.

It was great until a couple of idiots found it and it went to shit.

That particular thread even brought out an old member who hadn’t posted in years, who’s name slips me right now, Jameson has kicked in :ROFLMAO:,
that was veeeery knowledgeable and taught me a few things.

Truly mind blowing. I can’t get enough of it.

I have ove 40 dvd’s i recorded from the science channel of the Cosmos and universe.

I watch them frequently.

Carl Sagan had a passion that comes second to non.

I just read today that they have just observed the largest supernova ever.

10 times larger than any supernova ever seen. About 3 billion lightyears away.

If it was 8 million lightyears away it would be as bright as the sun.

The sun is about 7 seconds of light distance away.:eek::eek:

Now thats fuckin bright!

Thanks for sharing.

If you lay a mirror on the floor and stand at the correct angle you can see Uranus with the naked eye.

it's a great big universe and we are really puny

at one point, everything in the universe was crammed into a single point that is smaller than the smallest subatomic particle..

I just remembered his name. Nigel. He was a good guy. He was willing to teach.

Incredible pics from that old telescope that was almost left for scrap, awsome. You wanna see a cool movie go see or rent the martian with Matt Damon. Some really good nasa stuff. Our phones have more power than the computers that sent he apollo flights to the moon.
