My MAP sensor, 1 bar, on my 383 Chevy sucks. Sometimes it gives the right reading in the dash when I power-on, other times it don't.

I don't know right away until I try to start the engine, it won't start, so I pull out the laptop and the sensor is reading like 30kpa. After unplugging the sensor and re-inserting it, I am able to start the car.

Is it the sensor or is it the harness? What is a good sensor to get, just a stock GM 1 bar MAP? Off of which car?

Thanks!
Owen

Well Owen, the MAP sensor ain't supposed to suck, it reads the suck:D .
If it were me, I would replace the sensor. I use one from a 87 M/C SS

SUCK it does! HAHA!
Sorry, where I work M/C is motorcycle...what car is this?
Thanks,
Owen

Monte Carlo, but just about any '80 - 90's GM will work. The only difference in a n/a application would be the alignment tabs where the plug go in and those can be changed. Any GOOD counter guy (person) could match it up.
