can i wire the map sensor by its self no singal from any of the stock wires.I have a GNX dash and dont know if that has anything to do with factory wiring harness.thanks

Well the MAP sensor was used just for the little led boost guage on the stock GN dashes. The hobbs was used with the digital dashe..and nothing was used with the GNX dash since it had a boost guage.

So you can pull it out of the car and no harm done..just plug the vacuum hose.

I need it to activate my alcohol system iam using the tps temporarily,hope you can help thanks .

I can help, but not clear as to what exactly your trying to do. I understand you want to activate your alcohol system, but not clear as to why the TPS MAP thing. Be a little more specific..plez ;)

Iam using the TPS temporarily until I get a map wired up then the systwem will respond to boost insted of throttle poisition,thank you razor.slamming6.

Ok..your TPS sensor only goes to 4.5 volts approx. How are you triggering your kit of off a 4.5 volts signal?

Most if not all automotive relays are 12volts not 4.5. Let alone the switches themselves are low current and cannot handle driving the coil in a relay. Map sensors fall into this category as well.

So I assume you've made a box to take this signal and convert it to something useable by means of an amplifier of some sort?

Just being clear

;)

yes I made a control box based on a kit that uses PWM to run the pump I need the map so boost ramps the pump not TPS.you have been very helpful your posts are very informative,thanks

Cool..good luck..It took me a bunch of different controllers and configuratons to get it where its at today.. I wouldnt of made one had there been one available.

Just takes time,patience, luck, and a little knowledge :) The real skill is trusting your work on your own car as a guinea pig.

Careful on your choice of drivers, and how you protect it from noise in the vehicles electrical system. Remember there is an alternator generating all kinds of noise on the power wires. Let alone the frequency to the pump has also a lot to do with it.

Not saying anymore ;)

We has some little things to protect :D

hehe

I now understand your original question. The map sensor works with 5 volts. If you apply 12 volts, it will be damaged. The ecm is one source for your 5 volt supply. As well as the connector on the fender for the original MAP sensor.

the wires have been removed I dont know why how do I wire it what wire goes to A B C on the map.

a b c

A=ground
B=signal
C= 5v
For a 2 bar GN MAP or "new" 3 bar GM MAP

the map is stock replacement BTW.I wouldnt have this problem if I bought the right controler in the first place.YOURS very nice unit and the right price.

Careful with stock replacement if its not AC Delco. The aftermarket(autozone,discount,napa) may or may not be rite. A two bar with 5 volts on the power and gnd will output 2.5v on the signal. A three bar will be at 1.7v on the signal.

Thx for the compliment

do you know if there is a 5 volt source in the ALDL or what wire on the ecm I could use my meter just trying to narrow it down.

The wire where the original MAP sensor was should have 5volts on it when the ignition is turned on.

What wire on the ecm..sounds like a research job on GNTTYPE.org... I know there is ..if you cannot locate it, let me know..I have a lot of digging to find that information.

Also you can go to radio shack and buy a 7805 voltage regulator worse case scenario.
