what would be the best mass air flow to use with the first genaration translater

There is no "best" one, but there are different diameter mafs. Some want the 3" LT1 maf and can keep their maf pipe (the stock maf is 3"). If you don't mind changing the pipe, the bigger mafs flow more air. The LS1 is 3.5 and the Z06 is not quite 4". The bigger question is which translator is better? The gen 2 has many more features. Have you checked the translator forum at fullthrottlespeed? MAFT General Discussion - Full Throttle Speed Tech Support

I've had good luck with the LS1 MAF, but I'm going to speed density setup to get some more adjustability and tuning.

I have a LS1 MAF for sale if you're interested, pm me.

The ls-1 sensors are a popular choice. The are plentiful and work great!

Just to clear up some confusion if there is any on the MAF - LT1 and LS1 F-body MAF (aluminum housing) are both 3.5 inch. The 3 inch LT1 MAF was used on the B body - Caprice and Impala SS.
