I plan to get the Maxeffort and the Regular Translator not the plus. Who's using the Maxeffort, translator and SMC alchy injection? Tuning easy with these three things working together?

Your logic escapes me.
If you went with the Translator plus and extender chip you would have fuel and timing adjustments, going ME and regular translator just gives you fuel control.

The extender also gives you launch assist, which is enough to give the grins to anyone.....

The ME will give you the best performance. Get a translator if you need a maf.

The ME works well with a translator and both work well with alky.

I have Translator + ( my MAF went south) & plan on a 16 pos ME to have with & without alky tuning.

one of the most important features of the ME is the launch fuel curve (0-4000 rpm)......I do not know what the extender chip has, but then I haven't seen any cars with the extender chip....

there are a bunch of 10 sec and even 9 sec cars using the ME

anybody out there going that fast with the extender?

Bruce?

Ever ran a ME? It doesn't take logic to know when you are going fast.

Frankley, Steve Y is a innovator of alky injection. He knows how to make it all work together. Give him his dues, why do you slam him every unwelcomed opportunity?

Oh, give poor Bruce a break! He is a tuner! We ME users just like to set it and then go faster than the tuners! :) Is we me a redundant pronoun?

The only thing better than an ME is a Fast system. Maybe. Using a wide band o2 may close that gap even more.

One of the really neat features that no one ever mentions with regard to the ME is the fact that when it senses detonation, it automatically bumps up the fuel curves in reply which is very useful when dialed in on race gas and conditions change. Nothing like some insurance against yourself!

And, yeah, I really like the ability to dial in a spool up/launch fuel curve and then go to a richer curve when engine load increases after the shift.

Just curious what features the Extender chip has.

My choices:
Translator and LS1 maf sensor and ME
or
Translator + and extender chip

Most likely, I'll go with option 1

The basic feature of the extender is to double the range of air flow over which the chip may control fuel vs air flow. Conventional chips control fuel up to a maf flow of 255. As we get better heads, bigger turbos, more cam, more boost, etc., it is non uncommon to exceed 255 with regard to air flow and we guess as to how much more fuel is needed. The Extender allows one to calibrate fuel versus air up to twice 255 which takes some of the estimation out of the chip burner's hands.

The Extender also offers the user the ability to run closed loop or open loop, or a combination of both. I believe Turbobob recently made a post over in the chip forum where he listed features if you want to go look. :) Bob has long been one of the innovators, along with Steve Yaklin, in the chip field.

I think the Translator+ and the 3 1/2" MAF along with the Maxeffort chip is the way to go.

The Maxeffort generally comes with two timing curves with fuel adj. so.......

The T+ will allow additional timing changes if you want/need them.

Correct me if I'm wrong please... :)

I guess it is all in what is best for you....

The MaxE is a race oriented device with good driveability and the Extender is a good, if not great, all around device which Bob has worked hard on.

Bruce and Mike have real good luck with the extender and others have had good success with the MaxE.

It is fun for me to see others have fun with these cars, and I am not concerned about just making a fast buck. I am sure Bob feels the same way.

There are circumstances where the MaxE is optimum for a persons needs using a stock MAF.
Other people can, and do benefit from using the Translator in combination with the MaxE with their particular combination.
Still others , IMO, would be wasting their money buying a MaxE when the Extender is more than they would ever need for their combination and driving habits. There is a lot you can do with it and I have recommended to people in the past who have translators to go the Extender route and save their money.
Bob is interested in seeing people happy with what he does, and it shows in his work.

It's all in what is best for your needs for the long haul.

It makes no differance to me one way or the other.... Bob and I are happy to help if we can...

Steve
