is a 16 position thumbwheel chip like the ones caspers sells the same as an extender or maxeffort chip?
 
No, it's not like either.

The Extender is NOT a thumb wheel chip. It's a standard type chip for use with a Translator setup. It works pretty sweet though as you can adjust several things including fuel and timing(with the Translator + unit). I use and reccomend this setup. Here is a link to more info:

The Max Effort is a thumbwheel chip available in 8 and 16 position types that is an open loop based chip that enables you to set/adjust several operating parameters yourself. Lots of guys going fast with this setup as well. Here is a link to more info:

thanks U1ARUNIT, so are the ME and Caspers Thumbwheel chips the same? the ME says mechanical boost control is needed. will this work w/a BstC?
 
The ME and Caspers chips are not the same and the ME will work with a boost comander.
