Meth/alky injection

Is one more efficient than the other? Why does alky seem to be used more?

i think both are about the same but methanol is a lot cheaper...det.alky $10 a gallon and $3 a gallon for meth....i think methanol is better ...............................Bob Wren

where do you get methanol kits? you woudn't happen to know if methanol is sold around me....in Amarillo would you?

Supposedly methanol is easier to tune.I really dont know though,I just do what Julio says works for him and I run 25 psi on pump gas/methanol injection.Plenum is barely warm to the touch after a WOT blast.

Check the sticky at the top of the page for metanol sources and www.alkycontrol.com for the best kit on the market for our cars.Plus Julios kit is NHRA approved,the other guys cant say that.

places that sell race fuel most of the time will sell methanol too. That is where i buy mine from but i am here in Ga. I have Julios kit so it is compatible with meth but others may not be. Meth is corrosive to metal from what i understand...Julio's kit has the pump out of the tank so it doesn't hurt it...SMC kits has the pump in the tank so meth would shorten it's life..hth............Bob

So, can you just put methanol in a alky kit...or do you buy a special methanol injecton kit?

If you are worried about the price, just sell your kit and buy a kit from Julio. If you dont care about price, denatured alky does the same thing. Julio's kit is the best tho.

I have seen no difference in Meth/Den. alky. I just ran my fastest time with denatured alcohol with no KR really.

its harder for most people to find methanol . at least thats why i use denatured.as far as cost, well it is more money but with a gallon tank on razors kit it dont really bother me.i get denatured for 6 bucks a gallon at the local hardware store.

I forgot to mention I get mine at sherwin williams for 6.43 a gallon.... Just like xylene, you can bicker on the price a little.

I bet thats why your were seeing less than a degree of KR at the top of third gear last sat. I thought you were running methanol.

Plus BMP has the methanol for 2.50 per gallon. Should do a test to see if the motor responds differently

I use methanol cuase its cheap , but if there is no access...there is no access.. denatured will do.

Last runs were tuning sessions kinda. I turned alky up after the track runs and was KR free after that night(11.64). Now I have it all the way up(11.34).


Difference? I dunno... I really dont want to change anything now

BTW, I was faster on Razor's alky kit than race gas.
