Methanol storage

Went in on a 50 gal drum of Methanol and I'm going to buy a 5 Gallon plastic jug to store some in. Should I opt for a Diesel jug or a gas jug? Wasn't sure if since diesel is more caustic it would be a better storage container????

Although I've been known to store methanol in plastic jugs for a short period of time, I've heard that it is not the preferred way. Use a dark jug so that sunlight cannot penetrate.

Preferred storage method.
Metal container, out of direct sunlight, off the ground (on wooden boards), and tightly sealed to prevent atmospheric contamination. The atmospheric contamination would be water that methanol likes to absorb from the atmosphere.
