Apologies in advance for posting this in the wrong area but this forum gets the most traffic and I'm under time constraints (need to make some decision by Tuesday at the latest...)

My 87GN was hit on the driver's side a couple of weeks ago by someone running a stop sign. The car is not driveable. The other guy's insurance company finally called Friday afternoon to make me an offer based on me keeping the car (I couldn't bear to let them take it away just like that). Two different shops and the insurance appraiser think it's fixable but that will take time that I don't have as it's my only vehicle.

I'm hoping someone in the area interested in a project car or who needs a parts car for their own project car will make me an offer. To clarify: it is not a 'salvage' vehicle.

Some basic specs:
117,441 miles (my daily driver for 11 years)
clean CarFax (the accident hasn't shown up on it, yet)
the passenger side and the rear are unharmed
the front is fine except that the fiberglass nose has a crack/dent
hard top
aftermarket rear disc brakes
interior is generally in good shape (especially the seats) except for the driver door
it needed a paint job before this accident
there are the usual dings on the sides from shopping carts, etc.
rust has started on the bottom of both doors

Hmmm... it seems the board won't let me post attachments and I don't have anywhere to hosts pics, at the moment, so just email me for pictures.

Thanks for reading, folks, and best of luck with your own cars =)

Accident damage pictures...

Gee, it's amazing what an hour or two of sleep can do for the brain processes - I've just noticed the attachment option that I didn't see last night. I'll post the accident pics up, now. I have more pics of the overall condition of my car, inside and out, but they were taken with someone else's camera and I don't have access to them, yet. If I don't get them by Sunday evening, I'll take more on Monday morning.

Tell them you want a rental car while yours if fixed. You shouldn't have to sell your car because someone else hit you.

Sorry guys, sold it a few hours ago. It went to someone who has already gotten the ball rolling to fix it, so I feel a bit better about it - not great, but better.

DCVING 6 - the entire hold up on teh rental car was because I couldn't prove beyond a doubt that I wasn't responsible. It was a "he said, she said" type of thing and his insurance company wasn't in any particular hurry to pull their end. What a hassle!

I understand. Your probably better off taking what you can get. A buddy of mine just went through that.
He hesitated a few seconds at a green light and started to go. Oncoming traffic thought he was turning and pulled infront of him. My friend wasn't thinking and pulled over to the side of the road to wait for the cop to come instead of leaving the cars how they were. Cop couldn't write a ticket since they moved so my buddy got screwed.

Ouch :(

I got really lucky. First, when the adjuster on the other driver's side finally called the guy to get a statement by phone, the guy lied and said I didn't have my lights on. I had already emailed *his* adjuster pictures of the accident scene (digital cameras can be mighty handy!) and all my lights were on. Then, the officer who took the report finally got back to me a couple of days later and said that he'd made a note on the back of his copy of the accident report stating that the other driver had run a stop sign. By that time, the other insurance company had already said they'd pay.
