Trunk Kit??Definately Aftermarket

It would be safe to say bet this dude isn't the original owner of the GNX if he thinks the trunk kit is original. I've been looking through my old catalogs and the original Bowling Green Customs used to sell custom embroidered trunk kits with embroidered emblems available for GNXs with #.
There is a possible GNX up this way that has one of those trunk kits in it.His kit has a GNX logo and #.I'm not convinced this X is real but the guy claims it is.

I looked at that car, ( Ser No. 024 ) about 6 months ago somewhere around Diamondbar, Ca. It was an ok car. I had a hard time myself with the "first 100 cars" story.

I thought the first 4x cars went for DOT testing and werent sold to the general public...Joe?

Vin # for GNX # 1 & 2 are as follows and were shipped to Hendrickson and Sons Motor Co. in Boonville IN. and were shipped from ASC on 12 May 1987

Can't confirm 1 way or the other where cars 1 to 4 are now.

GNX # 1 1G4GJ1174HP439259

GNX # 2 1G4GJ1179HP439256

Can't publish info on 3 or 4 but something seems funny about those two cars (# 3 & 4) based on the info I have. There is some missing critical info on 1 & 2 as well.

the DOT wouldnt need to test the GNX or TTA because its the same as a current production vehicle just with some engine mods. Wrecked REgals and Firebirds are good enough...

I can confirm the whereabouts of GNX #1. It's owned by GM and is in storage in a secret location in Sterling Heights, MI. It's stored along with many (perhaps hundreds) of GM's finest collectable cars. I've seen GNX #1 in the GM display several times up close and personal. When I paced the parade in St. Ignace MI it was there for GM's 100th anniversary. Young kid was driving it and said he was pissed he didn't get the anniversary Corvette instead. Can you say.....clueless?

Yep. I've poured over #039 which is still in the hands of the original owner. No embroidered trunk kit there.

I'm sure Joe knows that #001 is owned by GM :) I do however know where #002 is and who that owner is, but I can't say. He is the original owner.

#001 has been to the Nationals in BG several times. GM sets up a display wit their new stuff. The GNX always outshines everything else they bring.

Yea, it outshines it because its not original paint . :)

Is that firm? It looks original to me...as in pretty crappy (swirl marks etc.).

I did not inspect it with my spectrum analyzer, but I was told by the GM Rep that it has been damaged traveling to shows and letting people in and out of it and that it was repainted at least 1 time.

I'll bring my paint analysis kit to this years nats :)

Excellent. I could use that analyzer on my TTA, I think it's all original paint too but now I can find out.

Whoever did the #001 GNx knew what they were doing to replicate the poor job GM did at the factory. Kudo's that amount of skill!

Sorry guys. I wasn't referring to the paint specifically. It just seems that every thing else they put under that tent is shaped like a turd. Tapered on both ends. :(

GNX001

I had the pleasure of driving GNX001 in Tampa after the Mike Doble interview for American Muscle Car SpeedVision show. 001 had 3986 miles on the odometer. She sure was a nice ride! Anybody know what happened to Mike Doble? Did he retire to Florida?

Yea, I think the last time I saw Mike was at the Nats in Columbus..I asked the guy that was w/the Buick cars last yr. what happened to Mike and I can't remember what he said..dif. division or something...can't remember.
