Just looking for opinions here on whether or not to put a dutt neck on my IC. I have ta49 with 42 lbs injectors bigger TB dont know what size it is though. My car currently has the ATR liquid IC on it now but I just got a hold of the prestine stock IC from a previous owner. So my question is excatly this do I need to modify this or can I leave it in original condition, and will it be plenty of efficient? Also when this ATR liquid comes off does anybody want to buy it?

Depend's upon the price :) Pic's?.... I would do a Dut neck while the intercooler is off.....

thanks!

Im just wondering also if the outlet on the turbo is the same size about as the stock neck on the IC, what difference is it really going to make? I just feel like you can only go as big as your smallest link.

If you do the Dutt neck. Your best bet is to buy a used on in the parts section. For the money it is a good mod IMO. It frees up 2lbs or boost or so. I noticed a little faster spool up as well. But for $180-$200 it is a good mod. Then when you are done with it you can sell it for what you paid for it.

I would NOT do it to a nice stock TTA intercooler.. Tag on it still nice ???

The entire IC is in great shape. Im not going to buy one that is already modified, and I really dont want to modify this one. Im just asking if there is even a need to. I dont see that there is, with the turbo outlet about the same size. If it does make a difference than can some one explain how?

Oh by the way grumpy, my TTA came from somewhere around andover ma... I think Lowell or something

Stock neck is a little restrictive in the bend...it actually gets a little smaller. The Dutt neck keeps it nice and open from the IC all the way to the turbo outlet. Plus if you have a bigger turbo with a 3" outlet it will be better  But like Grumpy said kind of hard to cut up a good stock TTA IC...however a good welder can make it look like it came on there. I have seen a couple where they even ground off the the Dutt and painted it black...looked stock.

wow.. 10 miles away from me.. BTW we ran high 11s with the wife's stock TTA @ 114/115 from what I remember back in 1989/90

The TTA and GNX shared the same IC core. Leave the stocker alone..

If you want to dutt neck an IC, do it to a GN IC :D

I took my stock intercooler off and stored it in a safe location in the garage. I welded the Dutt neck on a GN intercooler that I had that was in good shape. I ground the welds off and painted it flat black and for the most part it is a pretty stealthy route to go.

The world will end in about five years, so modifiy your TTA intercooler and let the cards fall where they may! haha!:D

modify it,,have you seen the value of a TTA lately
I have a front mount on mine...just need to fix the darn relays for the spal fans..

Do not do anything to the intercooler. The TTA intercooler is specific to the TTA only. It is different then the GN & GNX. The gain you will get from the neck is not worth the time, money or effort.

Steve you finally gave me the answer I really wanted to hear. As soon as I sell the ATR liquid IC and get a few extra dollars I still want to bring it over for the alky system. Ill call you soon.

I know the GN and TTA are different - fins per inch, but how is the TTA intercooler and the GNX different?

Frank, The GNX had the most fins per inch then the TTA then the GN. I use to know the specs but cant remember now. I had all three intercoolers to show customers the differences in the core density. I no longer have the GNX intercooler but still have a few TTAs & GNs.
