Any suggestions on this? When I had mustangs I always mounted my tach on the steering column. I'd prefer not to ruin the panel above the radio. And I'm mounting my boost and oil pressure gauges on the A-pillar.

It's a perfect 9600mile car, but I plan on keeping it for a long time so I plan on changing the car to suit my needs without hacking it all up.

I thought of putting mine there, did you put a plate or anything on the inside of the pod? Or was there enuf meat there to hold the thing up?

Jim,
At first I just had bolts going thru the side of the pod, but that seemed a little too loose for my taste, so I cut a small (1" x 2") piece of .090" thick aluminum, drilled 2 holes in it and put it on the inside of the pod. The clearance in there is tight. The tach is bolted on with Grade 5 bolts, lock washers and loctite-ed nuts. I have a tendency for going overkill. :D

But it is solid, it doesn't move at all.

This is why I put together a little plate to mount guages on the dash without cutting anything. See the guage panel html page on gnttype inthe tech section. I still need to re-load the picture from my interior, but you get the same result that Steve has in his picture.

E-mail me privately for a copy of my picture.
