I have a 1987 GN. The person I bought it from said it was doing high to mid 12's. I would like to be doing low 11's with pump gas. Here is a list of what I have in it. Any sugestions on what I should change or add to help get the car in the 11's would be appreciated.

ENGINE was completely rebuilt Bottom half of ENGINE completely balanced

turbo, intercooler, injectors, trans brake, heads

that should do it.......oh, and a new chip
 
I would really like to avoid doing any work to the heads because I have a 2 year warranty with the rebuild and any work to the heads would void it.
 
well then, scratch the heads and turn the boost up:)

...and then you will find out how good your warranty is......
 
Woody did that mean if I do the other upgrades and not the heads I could blow the motor. You suggested Turbo what size? injectors? Intercooler front mounted? and what is a trans brake I don't know much about mechanics. Is there a particular chip you could suggest.

I guess what I am saying is work on what you got first...you already have the parts to run 11's

then understand to go faster will entail more $$ and breakage in direct proportion to the speed you wanna go

you could spend some money on a better stock location I/C and a turbo upgrade and be mid 11's without much damage.....beyond that, get out the checkbook!

(this all ASSumes you have the tires/brakes to launch the car effectively....if not, do that first....a trans brake would be nice)
 
intercooler

Get a v4 stock mount intercooler, drag radials as well as alcohol injection and you will be in the 11's with ease!!! Intercooler $700, drag radials $300 ? , alchol injection $350 in any order. Best bang for the buck is the alcohol ! Good Luck
 
It's one thing to run low 11's. It's quite another thing to do it on pump gas, and not race gas.

Is that what you meant? Because a car that will run low 11's on pump gas (93 or so octane), will easilly run mid/low 10 with race gas, slicks, and race chip.

Maybe you might want to clerify your goals, something more realistic/achievable with what you have/want.
 
I wanted to run low 11's on pump gas but I can see thats not realistic and as far as who did the rebuild I will call the person I got the car from to night and post the name of the shop as soon as I get it. Still would like some feed back on a chip something thats good for the street and the track. and please remember this is also my daily driver.
