Break down, 87 GN with TE44/home made FM, blue tops and all the other goodies including RJC (untested). In the past few months my stock trans (132k) died on me and went with a lonnie diers killer street type build and a used (1000 miles) vigilante to match.
So our local track just put together a "true" street class, full int, all lights must work, various restrictions on tires.
i just got the trans in on wed, and after a couple days of driving its a different car, and im happy...so i decided to go run in this class as my previous best was a 7.78 in the 8th.
in test and tune i managed a 7.8X, first qual run 7.74, 2nd 7.84 (hit the rev limiter in 2nd) so its time to race, i qualified 4th for a field of 8....but all nite long i hadnt really figured out the stage/pro tree setup (yes its my first nite on a pro tree)
also note i just put vac brakes on from john dicarlo...happy with the setup, i actually held 5 psi on the brakes on the street so i thought i would be good to go at the track, not sure why but that wasnt the case, burnouts were easy, but staging was different than i was used to...car felt like it want to roll, and as soon as i was prestaged and started up on the gas, it rolled immediately into the 2nd lite, which didnt give me much time to get up on boost for launch...i did manage 2 1.74 60fts so i was getting there in practice/qualifying but im not comfortable with competing this way
so in my first comp run i decided to revert back to what i used to do by using the ebrake to launch...yeah i know backing plates and all, but i was only trying to do 5 psi launches, not trying to brake any 60ft records, just trying to be consistant.
over all im pleased with everything and there is a little more room...i hadnt said before but i was running 25 or so psi boost on a mostly c16 mix of gas (9 bucks a gallon?????) i had 0 knock all nite long but saw o2's dipping into the 690 range, which i am not cool with but at least there isnt any knock yet...the boost is topped out due to the old style actuator...my biggest issue is the chip itself, its to fat on the bottom end to build boost at the line running 45 psi static, but its too lean on the top end (3rd gear) to run much less...so that is probably going to be my first change
i was thinking lubrant or thrasher just for commonality and cheapness, eventually i will be going with a trans + setup with 50+ lb injectors...just no money at the moment to do it
