So what do you all think? The car has almost 90k on it. The oil didnt feel thinner or appear to be heavily diluted with gas. It just had the gas smell. I haven't done a compression test yet. I plan on doing one on my next four days off. Other than a compression test is their anything else I could check without pulling the motor?

Has the car idled a lot lately? Running rich? Leaky Injector? Any of these can cause gas in the oil.

I wouldn't say it has idled a lot and the scanmaster numbers are nearly perfect. Blm is at 123 at idle and pretty much 128 while cruising at a constant speed. I am worried that the rings might be shot. That is why I am going to do a compression test my next few days off. What should the psi be on each cylinder?

Every turbo car ive owned foreign and domestic has always had a lil gas smell in the oil.

Reason I mentioned the idle is I see you have a TT chip. They run open loop idle which tends to be a bit on the rich side for smoothness. When I used to just start the car up and move it around without actually driving it I would get the gassy oil smell.

As far as compression, its been a while but 150-160 per cylinder is about what I remember. Of course this varies with engine age & condition.

I changed the oil yesterday and I noticed the smell. The car runs great though. The gas smell kinda worried me since the motor is up to 90k on the odometer. I am just hoping the rings aren't bad. This is also the first oil change since I installed the Alky so I was worried about the higher boost levels and the rings plus all the other factory internals. I might just be a little paranoid.

Around 150 psi, with all cylinders being within 10% of each other.

What type and brand of oil do you use, and how many miles between oil/filter changes?

Mobile one synthetic and pretty close to 3000 miles between oil and filter changes.

I haven't ever heard that. If that is the case then I will change it more often. I only go through maybe 3-4 gallons of methanol in a year. The car hasn't ever been to the track since i have owned it and I only run it at 20psi. The gas smell wasn't overwhelming but it was there. I am still going to do a compression test and I am going to drain a little oil out after I put a hundred more miles on it and see if it smells like gas. I am just starting to think I am worrying about it too much.

Put it on the interstate and run it on a short road trip. Give the PCV and some heat a chance to do it's job and see if it still smells like gas.

Hope youre using some ZDDP with the Mobil 1. I really wouldnt worry about it too much. No need to drain any oil, just pull and smell the dipstick, that'll tell you what you need to know. Make sure it after the car was driven and up to temp as Earl said. Most of these cars will have a bit of gas in the oil after idling cold.

I have put a bottle of zddp in at every oil change. I received four bottles on Thursday from Kirbans. I was waiting on the zddp to change the oil. I know I can change the oil and put the zddp in later but the weather hasn't been too good and I just bought a new camper so I have been too busy to drive it.
