I have already done the searches here and on the other board and I cannot seem to get a definative answer on wheel backspace. I am buying custom wheels soon and I need to know what to order.

I am getting a 17x8 for the front that comes standard with a 4" backspace. Is this good or am I going to have rubbing issues with 235/40's ? The rear is a 17x9, NOT 17x9.5. I was thinking 4.25-4.5" backspace. Problems with a 255/40 ?

Thanks
:D

You will be fine on the front with 235's. I ran 245's and got a little rub when I hit large bumps (Stock height). You should be fine on the rear too with either a 4.5 or 4.25. I run 17x8 4"BS on the front with a 235 (just moved from the 245), and a 17x9.5 on the rear with a 5"BS and a 315 Nitto drag tire. My frame rail is notched and it tucks in there nicely. I assume yours aren't notched but there are those on the board that run 17x9.5 4.75bs with a 315 and no notch.

Thanks Jeff, anyone else want to chime in? I do not have notched frame rails or rolled fender lips... Yet !

Well my wheels are in and tires should be here in a day or so. I checked into this extensively and this is what I came up with.

17x9.5 Budniks 4 7/8 bs (seems 4 3/4 is the norm but I am running Aluminum drums so I added a little more. Would rather have to much than to little.)

315/35/17 Nittos

17x8 4" BS

245/45/17

Since my car is getting lowered a little I went ahead and trimmed the wheel well lip about 1/2 inch so I think I will be good. Should know something by weeks end.

It's going to be close but should look killer. ;)

Will 255s even fit right on a 17x9? On a 17x8 it would fit or look good but I dont know about a 17x9. How come you dont put a 275 on the back, reason I am asking is because a 275 on 17x9 wheel looks close to the lip on my 99 WS6 TA. I would rather put a 275 if I was going the route you are. How does a 235 fit on an 8" rim? Is the lip stick out or close?

On a 17x9 in the rear I would do a 4.5"BS. Your front set up will work fine.
