Mystery Tick

Maybe someone can help. When looking at front of engine it has a plastic sounding tick. At idle it will tick but not a constant tick...but it is not a metallic sound. It almost sounds like its coming from behind the accesory belt. Any clues? Like I said it does not click with every revolution..maybe every 2nd or 3rd but not certain.

injectors make a ticking noise, but you would always hear them.

Its more like a rattling plastic sounding ticking..not injector related. Thanks for your input!

have you ever replaced the timing gears?the cam turns 1/2 as many times as the crank,maybe sometime is broke on the cam gear
