I was talking to a guy who said that a buddy of his that built the GN motors back in the day used some kind of a "sealant/glue" on the headgaskets of the LC2 motor at assembly. Does anyone know if this is true, and if it is, what did they use? It always seemed to me that the OE headgaskets seemed glued on to begin with!
 
Hmm..glue on a graphite coated gasket. Sounds pretty effective to me!

He may have used sealer on 85's which used shims. Or if he used shims on 86/87's. Generally, putting anythign on a HG (a normal HG, not a shim) is a no-no.
 
It would be nice though, if somebody had snagged that headbolt spindle machine they used at the factory on our heads before they tore the Plant down (G body plant)!
