Anyone here know of the USS SCORPION, USS WHITE SANDS, USS PROTEUS or the TRIESTE ll?

Thanks. I thought maybe an old shipmate might have a GN. Or someones son etc. Thought I'd take a shot.

USS Scorpion was a Skipjack class submarine that was lost with all hands in the Eastern Atlantic in 1968.

USS White Sands is (or was) a combat supply ship. I did a very short underway period on this ship back in the mid 80's when it was homeported in Guam. I believe it is now a Military Sealift Command (MSC) ship - if it is still in commission (not sure, honestly).

USS Proteus was a Submarine Tender up until about 10 years ago, and was also homeported in Guam. It was commissioned during WWII, and at the time of its decommissioning, was the oldest (or one of the oldest) USN ships in active service.

The Trieste II is/was a deep submergence vehicle.

I was stationed on the Proteus , on Guam ,rrom Dec,'66 to June of '68

I was on the White Sands, at that time ARD-20 out of San Diego, from July '68 until July'70.

The Triestell was sitting in the back of the WhiteSands. When I got there it was all topsecret.

When the Scorpion was found off the Azores, the WhiteSands took the Trieste there to dive to see if we could find out what happened. It was a long 8 months.
