nc emission law?

i have heard that a new law passed that if your car was 20-25 years or older it does not have to be inspected has anyone else heard this?

Half-correct. You still have to have a safety inspection, but no emissions. I think it is 25 years or older.

You do not have to have any inspection at all if the car is 30 yrs or older in NC.

My dad works at a dealership and thats what he told me.

No emmission test for any car older than 1996.

It may vary from county to county. I know Durham, Orange Wake, Alamance and several others do still require inspections of some sort. (Had to inspect my 32 year old Plymouth last week) And had to get the sniffer test on my last 87 GN. Try ncdot.gov (?) to find out for sure.

That SUCKS!!!

I live in Buncombe Co. In the western part of NC. If you have to get a sniffer there on that old of a car; it probably wont be long till we will have it here.

That really SUCKS!!!
