fixed a bunch of vac. leaks now it runs WORSE!!

acts like coil pack is acting up but revs GREAT in park but take it on the road and starts to sputter!!

Changed maf with a spare I had didn't change anything still sputtered.

car only has 75,000 miles new plugs and wires 5000 miles ago check all and seeeemed OK!!!

any help would be greatlly appreciated!!!

JD

basics first. any chance an ignition wire laid on exhaust somewhere?? vac to fuel regulator ok? fuel pressure rising with boost? any codes? Sputtering before?? ohm the coil terminals out?

mine did this too, check fuel pump, injectors, fuel regulator. then look at coil packs and make sure the plugs are gapped right. the only thing that was fuctioning properly on mine was the coil packs haha.

Just remembered something... I remember seeing somewhere in here where a coue guys had problems with the fuel line in the tank collapsing because 1. It was old or 2. Had been replaced with the wrong type of line and the fuel had broken down the material. Just another possibility...

Thanks guys, will post back what I find.

Does anyone have a good mass air that I can swap out to test, or know where I can get one???

I have one for 86/87 I've read there not the same??

Coil pack checked out good.

plugs and wires GOOD. gap is 35.

Fuel pressure went to 60lbs at 15lbs boost with pressure set at 42 line off.

drove for about 40 miles today doesn't do it all the time just intermedaiely.

acts like MAF is starting to go, what do you guys think???

thanks JD

Maybe there's some muck around the pickup sock in the gas tank. Maybe pull the fuel filter to see if there's any tell-tale debris there.

Have you checked the cam sensor? My 84 got to running real bad and finally blowed the exhaust of the car and come to find out the cam sensor and managed to come lose.

Has the car ever had a Timing chain?.

The crank sensor is different but take a look at it too.

JD you got a scanmaster in that car? I have a quick disconnect one that has a pin to ALDL and a cigarette lighter for power, you can borrow it if that would help watch the maf values.

What about swapping an 87 ecm in temporarily?

I have a copy of turbolink 4.0 and a serial cable if you have a laptop with a serial connection.
