fixing to order new rims and slicks for the rear and need to know largest that will fit with no mods. size and back spacing info would be great. fixing to go bigger turbo and should go 11.0 if that makes a difference in slicks. thanks

15x8 with 3.5" backspace usually 28x9 slick
15x10 with 5.5" back space (i think) may be able to go wider on tire

I run 15x10 Weld Draglites, w/ 26x10.5x15 MT ET Drags. I believe the backspacing is 4.5", not sure if I could run 28" slicks with the same wheel/backspace......Never had better than a 1.74 60' with them (That was before removing the front sway bar, and ATR rear bar w/ UMI Lowers)

i defintenly know i want 28' tall and 10' wide and i am fixing to do the UMI complete rear with drive shaft loop and remove the sway bar. so i guess 28X10-15 with a 15X10 with 4.5 bs would be a good set up?? thanks

what makes you think you need 10" wide tire?.....I have run 1.42 60' times with 28X9" ET Drags and they'll fit just fine on most any car with a 15X8 wheel with no modifications (at a minimum you'll have to roll the fender lip to run 28X10's)

i really don't know i have 275/50 BFG DR's and they worked good but they are only 26 and i am wanting 28' slick. and i said the 15X10 cause i don't want to have to upgrade any time soon. but the 15X8 with the 15X9 hoosier drag slick is what i had in mind but was not sure. what do yall think? thanks

if you already have the 10" wheels with appropriate backspace, then go with the 28X10's....but you will be rolling the fender lip

no i don't have any wheels any more i had 15X7.5-15's with the 275-50's and had to have 1/2 spacers and longer studs hated it. i just want to have the setup to go 1.6 or better and be able to hold it. any other info yall can teach me on this subject would be great thanks turbotoy

you can do 1.6's on drag radials.......

as stated, 28X9's will fit just fine, no hassle, on 15X8 wheels w 4" bs

Speaking of...

Regaurding the M/T drag radials. Did you happen to get back to the track with less than 30psi in them? I saw in another thread you hit 1.52 with them full of air.

i run the M\T et drags in 28x10
they rub. i beleive im using a rim with 4" backspacing, it just clears the fender lip JUST!! but rubs parts of the frame im definatley gonna go 28x9 next time around..

haven't tried the Mickey DR's again...I am certain I can put them in the 1.4's with 29-30 lbs in them (they hook best at that pressure on my car and another local car)

to azgn

are you running the m/t dr in size 275/60/15 as listed in summit.
what speed or modifications to the car needto be done before you can step up from a 26" tire to a 28" tire ?
i have a stock motor except valve springs,i have a cpt-60 with art carr 3000 n/l and thunderfab int. the car has run 11.90 at 114 going thru the traps at 5000. this was with et streets 28-10.5.
i was wondering what tire would be best for my combo.{in the drag radial}
thank you
mike

well, one local car has had good luck with the 275X50 (26") MT DR's and his car is mid- high 11 sec

28" (275X60) would prolly be appropriate for anything faster than 11.5 or so

I use the 275X60's but my car is mid 10's on slicks

I'm running M/T ET's 28x11.5x15 on 15x8x4"BS rims...fit is exellent. I believe the same size in a drag slick is 28x9x15, as woody suggested.

:D

I'm running a MT et 28x10.5 on a 8" weld with a 3" backspace (maybe 3 1/4 if possible). Am I correct by measuring from the area where the tire bead seats? I have stock suspension and air bags. The tires seem to be wearing evenly and no rubbing. I do have aluminum hubs. Would also like to know the biggest drag radial to fit on stock rim. Also will scan master read the correct miles per hour with taller tire? (How does scanmaster get it's info for the mph?)

Stay with 28x9 slicks. You can turn 1.40 60's on these, and as Woody stated---no fitment issues. I have mine mounted on 15x8's w/ 3.5" backspace.

Hey Bryan, I got got my 15x8.5 rims with 3.75 BS on my car with the BFGDRs 275/50/15, fit is great. I have a set of 28x11.5 ET Street to put on after the BFGs bit the dust, and they should fit fine, I may have to roll the fender lip slightly though but hopefully not with the stiff KYB shocks I have on there.

I still need to get that ice chest, maybe I can drive the car over to get it and you can check them out before you settle on a rim.
