I have just installed a PT-68 and it seems to take a good 2-3 seconds to build boost. When it does I have plenty. What can I do to get it to spool faster? A different housing maybe? If so which one? Any other ideas? Thanks!

Can you tell us more about the turbo? Like what exh wheel is in it and what housing size? Also whats the converter stall at 0 boost.. 5 psi ?

From you mods, it appears to be a tuning/tweaking issue. 3500 stall, GN1 heads etc are going to really help wake it up.

Whats your BLM at the same spots Louie asked for stall speed at?

Consider a manual boost controller, it will for sure speed up the spool up.

Well I have a 2800 stall now and I know I can't spool with that small of a stall. I ran out of time to install my 3500 stall before I had to come back to Germany. When I go to WOT, it just seems to take a while for it to spool before it hits. As for a manual boost controller I have the hose disconnected from the factory Y piece and I have installed a "quickspool" valve form Qboost controllers in between the compressor side of the Turbo to the accuator. I have not installed the adjuster inside the car yet. Maybe it just takes a while and me being use to a TE44. When it spools, it hits 17 lbs. quick and stays steedy. Thats all I can handle right now without tuning. I guess I need to get my new converter installed and go from there. Let me know if I screwed something up. Thanks! Iwish I could tell you more about the turbo. Maybe you guys can tell me. Here is a link show the specs on the PT-68:

Ugh, doesn't this answer your own question?. :)

And 2,800 can leave a fare amount of latitude between brands of converter.

One work around might be to have Eric ramp out some timing below the actual stall speed of the converter to *crutch* the EGT up some to get it spooled. Might try a lil more fuel down there too. Note: it's a crutch not a cure for too tight of converter.

Sounds to me like you need a bigger stall. A 2800 is gonna really struggle spooling a 68 turbo. 3500-3600 is what you need. Even if its a .63 or .69 exhaust housing its gonna spool slow. Bigger stall or use a little nitrous to get things going like i do. ;)

I understamd about the stall. What I am concerned about is during normal driving. When I press the pedal, it just seems to take a few seconds before the boost kicks in. With the TE44 it took about 1 second. Yes I understand that I need to install my 3500 stall. At 2800 rpm, I have about 1/2 pound of boost so I got that covered. Just wondering if their was a quicker way to get the 68 to spool. Thanks!

The 68 will never spool as fast as your 44. The smaller the turbo, the faster it spools. The 68 is WAY bigger than the 44. A good tune can help it spool a tad bit faster. Running too rich on the bottom end can make it hard to spool. Other than that.....your gonna be stuck with som lag. I hope this helps.
