Did a search but didn't find exactly what I was looking for. I could not find a listing for a floor pan in postons online catolog. What I need is a floor pan that will cover about a foot to a foot and a half in front of the drivers seat to about the middle of the seat all the way to the door jamb. where's the cheapest? Also, beings the hole extends over the frame and fuel lines, etc, how would this repair need to be done?

Cut what you need fron a Cutlass or Regal donor, then tack weld in place, finish off with some seam sealer on top and bottom. Spray the underside with some undercoating. Look closely, rust can be everywhere. I did a complete floor in 2 sections (toe panel to trunk/rocker to rocker) to solve my problem. Mine was previously ownd by the Flinstones. Solid as a rock now.

well these cars are no longer in our local junkyards. THey've all been used up by them freaking circle track guys. My turbo t about met this demise, but I saved it. THe one car I've been takiong parts off of is going to be one fo these cars, but its junk anyways. I don't know if he'll let me take the floor or not, or if its even solid. I know where I can get an 82 cutty with ttops and a v6 complete for 150 bucks, runs but smokes a lot after sitting for the last 5 years, straight body though except inner door shells, skins look good. Should I go rip the carpet up on this cutty and see if its solid? Would I be saving money by going this route or wasting it?

That'll fit. That section you need is generic, unless you are really picky, any large sheet metal section can be formed to fit also. When was the last time someone did a floorboard inspection at a car show??? Make it solid and drive it IMO.

I got a friend that welds for a living. SHould I have him just grab me a sheet of metel for it or find a floor pan from someone? How hard is it going to be to put this in, am i gonna have to jack the car off the frame beings the floor is rusted out over it? Or do I just tack the floor pan in and just "SEAL IT UP"?

Should be staight forward with a sawzall or a cut off wheel. If you have to involve body mounts that gets to be a pain.(but do-able). Fabricating a section is the easiest way IMO with a tack weld every 1/2' and sealed up with seam sealer(I used liquid nails on the seams and painted).

has anyone used those pans? I have a huge hole from the front of the seat over to the seam of the door jam.

No I haven't. But Sherman,if the same company made very good pieces.
Having just done,2 small parts on my Limited. I made a cardboard template.
Cut pieces to shape. GOD this would have been so much easier.
And I had to get someone to weld what I made...HTH'ed Rob

www.shermanparts.com has brand new floor pans for our car as well as other parts.
I have these in my car. They work great but are pita to install. Make sure you save all the seat and shifter brackets. You have to drill out the spot welds to remove them.

Very good point. Take photo also if you want it to look untuouched.

Mine, where the type that shows on body. But are easy to get at from behind. Had I not stripped all body pieces. I might have missed the small hole under stainless strip at bottom of car. There are certain spot on regals that are prone to rust. Give a good look............HTH'ed...Rob. Also donor cars are great if you can find one...you have good input.
