Hello everyone!! Okay the 87 T I have I can write a whole book about the problems and everything about this one car..So I'll sum it up real quick so you can understand my problem
Okay I bought the car about 4-5 years ago the car was wrecked pretty bad in the front.the guy kinda parted it out because he thought it was never gonna be up running again they took the original 8.5 posi wich to me was the biggest!.( I replaced it with a supposedly 8.5 the guy said from a 85 GN) found out it was not posi!!

The guy sold it to me basically all torn apart.. So when I got it it was like putting pieces to a puzzle back together with bolts and parts everywhere in the trunk and back seat...I've bought so many parts throughout the years and now I almost have this car complete again!!! haha..Ever since I bought the car it has never moved.because of a missing driveline...I would start it here and there just to keep the motor running.. now that I've added the driveline and bled the brakes I drove the car for the very first time today..When I test drove it just around the block the tranny would not shift it stayed in first the whole time so I'm not sure what that can be..The tranny fluid is full...so what else can it be? Is it just a shot tranny? It goes into gear pretty fine reverse and drive work

As for the motor it runs alright but It for sure needs a big tune up...I've changed the oil and oil filter, the fuel filter (connected to the frame),I put new e3 diamond spark plugs and new wires...i'm not sure what else I can do to it?? When I put gas in it I used premium and added a lucas...is there anything else I can do to it? Sometimes when in park the car doesn't idle good and I have to keep my foot on the gas or else it will die...I do know that there is a huge hole in my exhaust from probably a high center or a huge rock or somthing idk..and Theres broken vaccum lines and missing plugs everywhere I just dont know where they go!

But as soon I can get this car up a running then I will start to really put money into..I want to put a new cat back exhaust on it for sure because it sounds like a old ford truck or something !

Its not going to run correctly with vac lines and plugs unhooked, you need to figure where everything go's first then see how it runs.
The trans may have some problems,Hung governer or tv cable adjusted to tight.

Ditch the E3's and get your money back. Use AC or NGK. Where are you located? You need to look at a GN and compare it with yours to get the vacuum lines routed correctly. Also make sure the grounds are connected correctly. A scan tool will tell you if your IAC and TPS are set correctly. Will also tell you if you fixed the vacuum leaks (blm=128). Sounds like you got your hands full! Congrats on saving one! Post pics and we can help you.

Thanks guys! I'm in slc, utah there's nobody around here with a GN that I can look at...But there's that only enthusiast probably in the whole state jason kramer that's locate in tooele utah, not too far from here..

I was thinking about getting that turbo buick engine book guide..So that I can try and put the motor back together properly..What do you think about that book??

Yea i know that this car's body was lifted basically off..It got new body bushings n other stuff...Thats when I bought the car.., they just put the body resting on the frame with all the parts in the back seat!!and all the hoses and everything that they had to pull so the engine can be separated from the body but not removed...I swear this car is such a headache..But i've come this far I can't back out now

start with the vacuum lines, mine sat for a couple years, and alot of my vacuum lines were dried out, cracked, and broken. including the one to my turbo and adj!

sorry guys I havent replied

My internet was down..anyways Jason Kramer is about a half hour away from me..I've talked with him before and basically I got to get the car moving to take it to him..

So do you guys think the vaccum lines can be causing the car not to shift?or maybe the major exhaust leak idk?? Cause when i drove it for the first time last week or so it ran good the idle was alright but it just would not shift out of first...It felt like it was gonna shift so i kept the gas going a little bit longer..Then I would let off...I had to drive the car around block going like 10 haa...
I'm not sure what it could be..I know everything to the tranny is hooked up so i'm not sure why it's doing this

Try this...

Make sure your TV cable is hooked up and adjusted correctly. That is what controls the transmission.

Check out this from gnttype.org

For the tranny not shifting, dump a can of trans-x in there and see if it shifts. My old regal had this problem. If it works, it was built up sludge, so change the fluid after. If out doesn't, try the tougher tips.
