Hey guys, been driving on some 10 year old BFGs that are worn about to the tread markers and are really hard, and today it understeered and slid into a curb ruining my front passenger GN wheel that was in mint condition. so, ive decided that to go along with my new wheel that ill be buying, i need to also purchase a new set of front tires and maybe backs too if $$ will allow. I do not want the stock size 215/65/15s, and was looking at tirerack.com for some good sizes. I want some with a stiffer sidewall that wont roll, more of a flat sidewall, and i want something a little wider. unfortunately 245/55s are not available, and 245/50s seem to be 24.7 inches tall, which is a tad too short i think. otherwise they would be ther perfect size. Anyone know where i can get some 245/55s? I realize most of you use 235/60/15s, But i want a stiff vertical sidewall if i can find it, and i want it the stock overall diameter or maybe just slightly less. I also want them to be pretty wide. 245s would be nice. or 255/50s would be nice too. There are some Yokohama AVS 225/60/15s that are 25.7 inches tall, with 7.3 inch tread width that are Z rated speed, they are also cheap. You think those would work and handle well? im looking to increase my handling here without changing the look too much, guess thats not gonna happen to easy.

Anyone running any sizes that work good? thanks

I've got the 235/60/15 Michelin Pilots up front with the big Nittos out back.

They handle well on the street. :)

Not sure of the sidewall flex strength and they ain't cheap. ;)

I really liked the Dunlop D40M2 tires in the same size which of course they don't make anymore they were an excellent street tire.

Good luck, I'm sure more will chime in soon.

I have a set of 225/60/15's futura sport radials from pep boys on stock gn wheels for sale, they seem to handle great for the money and lookpretty good 500 for the whole set with caps, about 3000 miles on the set

i've got 235/60 front and 255/60 rear with sagged springs so the front rubs a little on tight turns. it looks great though!

I settled on a set of AVS intermediates 225/60/15s. they were really cheap on sale so i got the full set for around 170 bucks. That will work for a while, maybe when i get more money i can buy some wide tires for the back. i have some 255/60s on the back of the GS that i really like the size of. when i got the car it had some bald 255/60s on the back also. sat up pretty high in the rear.

235x60 are same height as the original 215x65 & don't change speedometer readings.
I'm running 225x60 Yokohama db front & Nitto 555R 275x50 rear with no rubbing. I did adjust the speedometer (digital with an electronic box).

im running 225/60/15's bfg radial t/as on 8in. wheels.. and mine handles nice and crisp.. 255's on back.. i finished off my 215/60's with a 3rd gear dead-stop powerbake.(heheheee) you shoulda seen the cloud of smoke, it was breathtaking :D better than any sunset i've ever seen!!
