Here's what's up... My tranny is short shifting and really acting up when I let off the gas (like a stick would if the clutch out and in a low gear...). I figured it must be a solenoid (TCC?) and maybe the TC... So my plan of action is replace both.

My question is this: I want a torque converter that will be streetable, since most driving will be done on the street, but will work with the upgraded turbo I plan in the future. So, something good for a stock turbo but that will run a decently upgraded turbo.

My car is an '86 t-type with cold air (stock maf, 3" pipes), rebuilt tranny and engine w/ 33K on both, 2" dual exhaust w/ cat, some gauges, fuel pump, 60# injectors and chip from turbo tweak, and after it comes a front mount PTE intercooler... when it gets here and I stick 'er on.

Future mods are alky kit, 3" dp, and then bigger turbo yet to be decided...

not being a pro at picking torque converters any advice would be greatly appreciated! Basically my goal is a street drivable, enjoyable 11 sec car...

Thanks guys!

converter

I have searched this forum on the very same subject extensively. I am going with a PTC from Dusty Bradford here on the board. The converters are reasonably priced and I if it delivers half as good as they say it will be perfect. Get with Dusty!!! He will set you up!!!

I would just change the solenoid and hold off on the converter until I decided on what turbo and mods I was going to put on the motor. No point in buying twice.

Thanks for the advice. I was thinking I'd start with the solenoid then while the pan is dropped inspect the TC, and if it's shot too I'd have a plan of action so I don't have the car OOS for too long...

Thanks again

give us a ring .i can set you up with the solenoid and pan gasket so you can try out a new solenoid.
