Dropped my fresh engine today. But my HR mounts (both) don't come close to lining up. I know I've seen a thread on this but could not find it. W/ the drivers side lined up, the pass. side is about 1/2" off as it sits on the crossmember mount. Anyone else experience this? Your help is needed! Thanks.

No, they are stamped driver and passenger. Might try swapping them anyway. or hogging out the holes.

Don't hog the holes, mine fit perfect! Loosen the bolts on the engine so you can move em a little, then when you get it lined up tighten them.

Also contact Paul Ferry at HRParts before you open up any holes.

That ain't good to do.

I'm not sure I would necessarily agree with keeping the Mount-to-Block bolts initially loose as an alignment aid. It's critical those bolts are fully seated and correctly torqued, and I don't think you can do this unless the Mounts are bolted while they are "free floating" and unconstrained by something else binding.

When I installed my HR mounts a few months ago, I also had a heck of a time at first, getting left & right sides to align. I discovered that by gently moving one side, or the other, of the engine up & down, I was able to get the mounts to properly align ... it required just a little patience.

I also had a 2x10 wood board under the entire oil pan, to spread out force from the floor jack. I drilled a 1" hole in the board to clear the oil drain plug, so the board was fully flat against the oil pan. The board provided a good surface to lift against, depending on which side of the engine I wanted to favor during the alignment process.

This falls under the "no 2 cars were created equal" rule. My buddies car is doing the same thing. It seems most all of them go in fine, but every once in a while someone has problems. I have found that the stock frame pad/towers that are bolted to the crossmember to be the cause. If they were formed slightly differently, the corners will be sharper, and they will interfere with the welds on the new poly mounts.

Check to see where they are hitting first. You may have to grind the corners so they are more rounded on the frame pad/towers. Once you eliminate this interference, that usually fixes things. If it still does not fit up, then you can loosen the bolts to the block & adjust. You can try fitting it up with these slightly loose, but if it is too far off it will not bolt up right. I would just loosen the bolts & make sure the mounts are down against the bolts before tightening. There is a little clearance there that can be shifted to the downside. If you installed them with the motor upside down, the weight of the mount would have placed them higher when the motor is upright. That would throw the angles off a bit, but minor amount. As stated above, no 2 cars being the same, your frame pad/towers may have been bolted on slightly differently than most others. You can loosen those bolts & shift the towers around a little to line things up.

All else fails, we are working on an update for them that might make them fit your car a little better. Please DO NOT hog the holes out to fit unless you plan on keeping them whether they work or not. This basically ruins them. If you can't get anything to work out, I can swap you a newer version for those, as long as they have NOT been modified.

PS- PLEASE contact the manufacturer when you (or anyone) has a problem with a product. Some of them may not help you, but we will go out of our way to make sure our customers stay happy. Some other vendor/manufacturers help to various degrees, but at least give them a chance to help fix things. Many times you won't be the first one that experienced the problem, so we may have a fix figured out (like above). Anyway, let me know if you get them to fit up, need more help, or want to swap them out. We will be at Morrocco & bristol if that helps too.

Thanks Paul and all others. After waiting a year to get is thing running again, entertaining the thought of hogging out the holes was an act of desparation. Before giving up by yanking them out, I tried tapping them down over the tower W/ a long extension and a hammer, as I had to the last time with a set of new stockers. This was before I realized that the mount was already sitting smack on the flat top part of the tower:confused: I'll try adjusting the mount orientation to the block, and go from there. Paul, I'll keep you updated as on how things go. Appreciate the help.

Well, if it's sitting against the flat part, then the welds are not interfering & holding it up. It looks like your frame towers might be bolted in differently. There is clearance on the bolt holes from the factory, and yours seem to be pushed down (or together) towards the oil pan. This would make it seem like the motor won't go down far enough to line up. You can loosen the bolts attaching the towers to the crossmember (not easy but possible) and slide them up & out to get them as wide as possible. Tighten them up there, and give it a try. It should line up there. Keep me posted.
