All the lower speedometer cable threads are like 22 years old. Entire businesses have gone underground since then. Anyone have a current, updated part number for JUST the LOWER half of our speedo cable?

All I know of is a one piece Delco cable that I put on my car.

Have you verified you can get the upper and lower apart yet? I couldn't get mine apart when I got it off the car, away from the paint, and didn't care.

Yep. Already sprayed some silicone down there but it only helped for a couple of days :( I want a new lower :) If not, I'll just soak this one in motor oil for a few days lol.

i'll assume that you've tried you favorite locally owned auto parts store? i got the cable for my T Type from Carquest for like $15..

Be careful with all the lubes. If that stuff works it's way up to the speedo head, you're going to spatter paint your display.

any special reason you're against a 1 piece cable?

Good thinking. Though this is just the lower. I'd be suprised if the lube made it's way through to the upper cable. That would suck though. And I'm against the one piece because I don't want to have to take my dash out. Again. :(

Pulling the dash sucks, that's for sure.

Earlier today I knocked over a box that has my $100 Caspers rebuilt tach/boost module in it.... That I had rebuilt 9 months ago! lol

NAPA has a good selection in their catalog, at least they did 5 years ago. Maybe remove your cable and match it up to the pics in their catalog?

We had a speedo shop here that has went under now that use to make me new ones for $10. Got a speedo repair shop around? I've been hard at this game for 23 years and have only seen two nos cables come up for sale and that's been some years ago.

It's inner wire isn't all jacked up and it's of the correct length and design, which is two piece, so that I don't have to yank my instrument cluster again to put in a one piece.

I purchased a one piece Speedo cable from Advanced Auto. No issues here.

I just don't want to take my speedo back out again to reinstall. I just want to replace the lower speedo cable :)
