Since 1990 I've been using a tranny cooler that Eastern Performance sold back then. I have the fluid going to it exclusively and have had good luck with it up untill now. I recently installed a tranny temp gauge, a new tranny, and a 3800 rpm 9/11 converter. At the track last Sunday I noticed that on the T brake and out the back door the temp was around 250*F and then would slowly cool down to around 140*-150* while I allowed things to cool down. First off, what might be the "normal" operating temp for a set-up such as this? Secondly, what tranny cooler do y'all recommend that might be more efficient and HD than the one I'm using now?? I believe this cooler is rated at 18,000 GVW and it has 3/8 tubes and 6 passes. I would like to purchase a cooler that would keep the temps lower to begin with a cool down at a faster rate. BTW, the cooler is mounted on the radiator behind my FM IC.
