My wife and best friend of 20+ years was adopted at birth by a family that was not worthy of taking a single breath on this planet. I mean you know that place that is on the other side of treating your child like crap, that's where she grew up every single day until she turned 18. In December 2008, she finally found her birth mother. She lives in the Reston area and it turns out that my wife was her only child. This woman does nothing but love my wife and at 33 years old, my wife now knows what it is like to recieve motherly love. Now they have known each other for almost a year and a half and her mother has been diagnosed with cancer. The doctors are not taking any chances and performing the most aggressive treatments available. My wife is at a loss with everything right now. She will be spending several weeks/months at her mom's over the year.
I need advice from people familiar with the area on where they can go to get away. After her treatments and when she is feeling up to it, they need to go for drives. First, I need to know a reputable detail shop near Tysons corner to get her mom's Mercedes detailed. It's a nice AMG 550SLK, I don't want to have someone butcher it. After that, I need a list of places they can go for drives and just enjoy being around nature. Any state parks that have picnic areas or just places they can be alone, away from the city (not more than an hour or so drive). We have been up around Maryland and really like the looks of the area, just don't know of the good places to go.
The outcome of her condition is beyond anything I can control. I can only offer my wife the time she will have with her mother and if need be, the GN will be sold so they might have a few more memories together.
Thanks!
