Here goes, I bought a 1987 White T from a friend of mine that needs some cosmetic tlc to say the least. I'm a painter, so I'll be taking care of the paint and body. I'm going to do a white base/clear job this winter, but with the addition of a GN spoiler, going semi gloss or trim black rather on bumpers, mirros, wheel well trim, window trim etc. I'll start by saying I bought this car for my wife, so I'm going off of what suggestions I have made that she's chosen. She has been a good sport about me buying another TR, so this was her compromise (she gets to pick everything out) The car is white with grey interior, console shift, so it's a more rare car...I've been told.

Here are the interior ideas:
We have already done a new black headliner and matching visors, as well as GN lower door panels with concert sound. Instead of keeping with the original grey carpet and grey seats, which need replacement regardless, we are looking to do black carpet, and GN style upholstery with the TType material, and upper door panels to match. Basically, the goal is to make it look like a white GN...with the exception of the other black accents. Do these ideas sound sacrilegious? I know its our car, and what makes wife happy makes life happy, but further down the line will it hinder potential resale? I'll post pics here in the next month or so of what we have done so far (I'm out of town) any opinions are welcome!

Sacrilege! J/K

Personally, I'd leave the grey alone (darker is warmer or at least feels warmer- ask me how I know)
Resale is tricky. Lots of people want stock, others want modded (as in faster) Not sure about swapped out interiors.
If the paint isn't too terrible (or even if it is) you may want leave it and focus on reliability and driveability.

We have had several TRs all of them are show paint nice. Never/rarely drive them. Had a white one with terrible paint and a mean engine. Our favorite car, could drive anywhere without fear of damage or even theft... Didn't look special... The others always attract attention... (the wrong kind)

Good luck on your project

Yeah thanks for the input, I for sure agree with the reliability being the first step. Wife is driving it daily now, but it's in need of a tune and new alky kit to safely build boost. Wow, but I must say...the paint sucks! Lol. Someone thought it'd be a good idea to paint it single stage white with BLACK metallic! Yes, I said black metallic, it looks perpetually dirty, Like it has guide coat on it! I'll post pics so you all can see, then I'll make a new thread about the new paint job! Attention wise, we are worried about theft, we do have a killer alarm, but we all know sometimes that doesn't matter!
