I've decided to "down" my TR for a bit so I can prep her for some of these racing events at the track (I'm tired of missing out on all the fun). One puzzling topic is a chip/injector combo.

Let's assume I have the upgraded fuel pump and regulator: how big injectors can/should I get? Are there any mechanical limitations for bigger injectors (e.g. cam/valve mod's)?

Race gas... what's the octane rating available?

Any other factors I need to be aware of before making a purchase.

Also, slicks & rims. Gonna need a set. Any local shops with good deals or should I do the mail order thing. PS what's best size?

Talk to Mick (Kenne-Bill) he is the preivous owner and ask him about the mods done on it, but I think its all stock except for the exaust.

Remove the ECM and see what kid of chip is in there. Usually chip manufactors label their chips.

How fast do you want to go? Derek went into the high 12's on stock turbo, injectors and IC.

Existing mod's

Sorry for the delay in answering your questions. I have the basic upgrades...
*fuel pump hot wire kit
*adjustable f.p. regulatror
*adjustable wastegate regulator
*160 t-stat
*Kenne Bell chip (ultimate?)
*3" exhaust system

I've heard good things about Jay Carter chips... any other opinions?

IMO Jay's chips are good I had better results with Joe Lubrant chips, he usually add a little more timming in it.

Looks like you might have stock injectors. The 50's are the biggest you can go with out modifing the ECM. If you don't want to spend that much you can go with the 009's (42.5 lb/hr). What kind time you running now?

Just a reminder the Street car shoot-out in November, can you make it by then?

hmmm... I kinda doubt it. In addition to the performance upgrades, I've got a few squeaks and rattles that are buggin' me (driveshaft/exhaust/brake related). Plus, still need slicks. Is there a good shop locally for that?

Mickey Tompson's ET drags or ET street at Ron's performance and ask for the preferred customer account price. The price is not too bad, its not that much more than Summit with the shipping.
