Need turbo selection advice...

My stock turbo is shot on my recently purchased '87 T. I knew I would have been upgrading, but didn't expect to do it so soon. I am fairly stock right now, but am about to pick up a pair of ported Champion iron heads and will be building the short block. I was thinking TA49 or GT32 for now, because of the fast spool, but I am still up in the air right now knowing that I will have to upgrade again after I build the motor. I currently hve a 3k stall TC, but that can be upgraded if need be. The car will be used for street/strip duty, and I won't be pulling the motor till at least November or December. Can anyone steer me in the right direction?

Buy once.

A TA/TE 60 or 61 should spool fine with that converter and work well with the heads.

If you can afford ball bearings ($$$) get a CPT66 from Jack Cotton.

I second the 60 series turbo's. I had mad spool up with the te-44. The te-45a spool late, but man, what a rush! I lost bottom end but picked up lots of top end.
