I have a GN with 11232 original miles. My brakes just started to squeek. They are the originals. I have a feeling they need replaced. What do you recommend putting on. I want to keep it as original as possible but I would like to have it stop alittle bit better with out breaking the bank! Any suggestions? Or should I stick with original replacement?

Thanks in advance!!

Stay original style, soft shoes arent that great for street use.PMs are known to cause slight brake noise before failure.Hows the pedal been lately?

Master cylinder already done . Failed about 5000 miles ago. Defective power switch. Just had the drums and wheels off. Pads still look good. I took the factory clips off the stud that held the drum on.Had some glaz on the pad and sanded lightly. Gonna see if thats works.

New brake pads won't make your car non-original. They will save it from being a wrecked original. Keep the old pads if you must but it's $30 and it's a maintenance item, just like a new battery.

Exactly, brakes are brakes, they make you stop and thats it. Since your driving the car its expected to change the pads and after 20 years it might just be a good idea to do so.

Its not like your downpipe is rusted out and the only thing you can find is a Terry Houston, which is not a bad thing but it is far from stock.
