I just noticed after hooking up directscan that the neutral safety switch is always in the park position even when the car is in drive. Would this have cause any problems. Will change the switch asap.

may not be the switch ,
do you ave a functioning lockout linkage?

if the linkage is intact the switch is adjustable by reaching down under the dash near the floor baord , on top of the column is the white switch and it adjust simply by rotating it left or right as needed

Yes I do get reverse lights when the shifter is in reverse. But on the DS it stays in P/N and I can not control my extender chip. Could it still be the switch?
Thank you for the help.

if the reverse works the switch is operational mechanically so its not a broken tang on the switch ,

just wondering if someone wired the wires to the
nuetral connector together when the switch went bad , its easier to do the jumper than fixing when they go bad

if so changeing the switch alone wont help

will the car start in any gear other than park or neutral

try disconnecting the connector and then jump terminals with a paperclip to see if it changes what DS shows

would be easy enough to swap the switch

here is something strange for you. I took the switch out and moved the arm manually and everything worked. Wierd. I will change the switch just for good measures. Thanks for all your help.
