I got to take my new 6152 to the 1/8th at Qualcomm Stadium on Friday night. I ran a 7.51 @ 94 with minimal tuning before trouble hit. Best time with the TA49 was 7.8 @ 89.

I think something was wrong with my torque converter going into the night. When I staged, I set my transbrake and floored the gas to spool up. The converter would flash to 2500RPM and it would take about 3 seconds to spool up the turbo. At 15PSI I was at about 3500 RPM and then I would launch. My torque converter seemed to have "tightened" up somehow possibly?

After about 8 passes, I launched hard and it sounded like my front U-joint broke. After inspection it looked fine, but my car makes a clunking noise while in Reverse now. Also while in Drive it goes fine, but when I left of the gas... clunk clunk clunk...same sound as when in Reverse.

I dropped the car off at Art Carr's and am waiting to hear back!

I got a call from Art this afternoon:

2 broken motor mounts and a broken tranny mount, he is going to install poly mounts and a torque strap.

sorry to hear that....you dont need a torque strap when you have poly mounts...good luck, nice times

I did the HR mounts on mine a year ago. No vibrations, and don't need the strap.

That's quite a drive for you Dave to race in a parking lot.

Congrats on the new time.

Didn't see you at Fontana last Saturday - I thought you were signed up?

My girlfriend lives next to Qualcomm so it was "convenient" to take my car to the track there ;) I also wanted to beat up on some ricers with fart pipes.

I had to work on Fontana Friday so I couldn't make it. How did your TTA run?

Went 11.67 @ 112 - mph was killed by the headwinds all day. Car could have gone 11.4-11.5's had it been calm.

Traction was good though - switching from the Nitto's to MT's dropped the
60's quite a bit, got a few in the 1.6's - best being a 1.60

See the thread "todays Fontana pics", for a nice vidio of Frank's TTA haveing it out with Gary Wells Turbo-T. We missed ya there, but still managed to have a fun time anyway:D .
