I just installed a new AAC carpet in my 84tt,but it has creases` in it from being in the box,how do you remove and or smooth it out,I`m sure other board members have done this, but not me,,can sombody shoot me an idea or two---thanks,,Jack

ya can try to warm it up with a hair dryer, just not too close to burn it. But the creases will probably relax out after some time.

I actually let me sit outside of the box for a day or two before installing, but the creases did not leave until the carpet was installed int he car for a couple of days.

Good luck!

nice rug

Is anybody else less than impressed with how aftermarket carpet fits (even after its trimmed propperly)as opposed to a factory rug?

It's usually recommended to let the carpet warm in the sun for a few hours to let it unsettle from packing before you install it. I don't see the weather permitting that. I'd run the heater full blast through the floor setting for a while and work the wrinkles out or like the others have said, time will work out the kinks. Good luck, enjoy the new rugs!

whose carpet are you using out of curiosity

We use a steam machine to remove nasty crush/crease marks in residential carpet. Black and Decker makes a small steamer that is economical and easy to use. Just be sure not to steam the carpet too much in one spot or you will break down the backing of the carpet.

new carpet--creases`

The brand of the carpet was ACC,,the fit was good (I did have to trim some off,it was too wide),the color is good, just the wrenkles,I`ll heat it up some and see if I can get it to relax.Still a bit cold here,so I`ll just give it some time,Thanks guys for the input,,,,Jack

it looks so real

I've put ACC carpets in three different cars,(all buicks)and they all fit the same.No matter how long they settle in the driveway,in the heat, they always fit loose and baggy.I'm not really knocking the ACC stuff, because its good quallity carpet,it's just a tad loose.

Did you put the insulation pad back in?

I just replaced some carpet for a guy,(I let the carpet lay out, unrolled, in my garage for a couple of days with the shop lights aimed at it to warm it up) and he didn't buy replacement padding and the fit was terrible.

ACC carpets---all have fit "Loose"

I agree, mine fits loose at the trans tunnel,,had to trim the edges on the front floor areas to tighen it up-----Jack

I bought some GN floor mats from Ebay, ACC made them and shipped them to me. The GN logo was glued on, not embroidered as the ad said. The letters came off in one day! I sent back with a nice phone call. What a POS!

I bought a "rug" from a fellow board member. Don't know if it was ACC, but I ended up leaving the padding on it along with my OEM padding. It fit a little loose over the hump and around the back footwell where it turns "up" - I can imagine how loose it would have been had I taken the padding off...
