Lil' confused here guys. I am buying some used blue tops for my 85 hotair car.

When doing the inj change - your chip has to match them right ?

I am gonna change over to the 87 ECM so when I get the ECM what do I need ???

Will a used ECM come with chips (PROM + chip) in it (usually) ? What do I need as far as chips go....

I know there is the PROM and then a performance chip will go in it. Right ? SO i'm best to order a performance chip then when I receive the ECM all I gotta do is put the performance chip it 'cause a PROM should already be in there.

Yes

Preferably an 87 MAF and a MAT sensor[

You need a street (or race) chip for 36# injectors. Preferably something custom to make up for your lack of intercooler.

Thanks Jay.

So ususally a used ECM will come with the PROM in it already right ? An d its ok to use that PROM on my 85 motor provided i've got the 87 MAF and MAT ?

Yes and no

Will it run, yes.

Will it run well, no.

Plus the stock chip is for 28# injectors, not 36s. Not to mention that the stock chip has WAY too much timing for your application.

Think i'm confusing the PROM with the street or performance chip.

They are not the same thing ?

There 2 'chips' in an ECM right ?

One you can replace with a performance chip and the other you cannot.....

What I wanna know is what do you do to make the car run right (ECM wise) after you get the ECM installed with MAF and MAT ?
Think I meant to say calpack.

Put in a chip done for your setup. Thats about it.

Thanks Jay.

Guess I was complicating matters for myself there.
