Re: New discoverys
Chuck,
I was hoping the gauge was wrong. It's a new Autometer mechanical installed where the idiot light switch used to be. I checked it versus TLink and it's right on.
Fan runs constantly. Comes on at around 170 and never shuts off. Not on high, though. Only runs high with the a/c (not using the a/c, though, until I figure this out) and when I park it and it's above 200 degrees (runs for a little while with the car shut off). I was thinking of wiring it up to come on high, but I think at this point that would be a band-aid (if it worked at all). I'm leaning toward the thermostat....everything else checks out. Bypass looks fine - it's a new GM one. I will get that lower hose replaced, too.

Most likely borderline hot and then when there's no air movement, it heats up..
Should not show IMMEDIATE rise because you punched it a bit...
also, slow driving in the hood.. poor air circulation.
ARE you SURE the ga. is right?? elec or mech?
At what temp does the fan come on?? Does the fan run when sitting in the dway?? IF not, grnd the sw and turn it on and see if the temps drop.
