new engine won't start

The new 87 engine i have installed cranks and i Have fuel pressure after i changed the relays but it almost fires up then coughs and stumbles. i wired the plug wires in the right order but it almost starts then chokes any ideas what could be preventing the engine from firing? the timing chain was replaced and i was told the timing needed to be done could that be the reason??

Did you set the cam sensor correctly?

The cam sensor was the culprit!!! it went from not cranking over to running considerably smooth. i still need to finer adjust it but that made a world of difference...i am so psyched
