Since this went into effect Dec 1, 2007 how many on here have had their vacuum line broken by the crimp pliers used in this new test.

At this time I know of 3 firebirds that have suffered this fate.

I suggest that everyone who experiences a broken line write their CA State reps and the BAR.
The BAR web site admits that this test will do "minimal" damage to the vehicle.

I had my cutlass smogged today, went to the regular guy who is a car guy. No problem at all with this test. Maybe it's just careless techs?
Maybe PM gofstbuick.

The crimp plyers are supposed to be used on soft lines. If the line is a hard plastic type, then the tech may use an approved plug for the end of the line. My GN used to have hard plastic lines (and requires a plug to test), but I have since converted to silicone vacuum lines. I don't anticipate any issues related to low pressure fuel evap test on my vehicle.

Im glad i have my emissions and inspection cert's because, im just going to throw another car on the dyno:D
