well, after 61 miles, my new long block is gonna get a pair of head gaskets. Im looking at the SCE or RJC. Anyone else had experience with either sets?

funny... friday the 13th.

So why did the current gasket fail?

Don't Know. Im Gonna Pull Some Plugs And See Who's Shinny. But, If I'm Gonna Do One Side..... Don't Need To Have To Do The Other Side Later.
After Fumbling With The Cam Sensor For 3 Weeks, I Ordered The New Caspers Cap. It Does What It Is Supposed To Do!! I Took It For A Short Ride On I10 This Morning Before Work To Start Putting Some Miles On "fresh" Block. Z06 Wanted To Play..... But, I Refrained And Got Off @ Next Exit. Came Back To My Shop And Heard Tapping And The White Smoke Followed.
I Only Got It Up To About 80-85. Since The Temp Was Reading 200 On Scanmaster, I Checked The Coolant. Low!! I Added More. And More. Explains The White Smoke. So.... Here Comes Another Tear Down.

I run Titan's and did not have to o-ring my block or heads. No problems but everyone has an opinion. Do a quick search on this site and you will find a lot of threads. There are a lot of choices and your engine build and how hard you plan to run may guide your choice. Good luck..

White smoke

Are you sure its a head gaskets? Could be a cracked head or block! We need more information! Was the head and block decked? What head gaskets are you using? Did you rattle the motor?

+1. We arent even sure it is head gasket failure yet.

Find a reliable machinist first.

i bought a kit from weber. i talked to them today and they said the price is going up so hurry. also gn1 performance has stroker cranks in stock.

whats wrong

You should figure out what is the cause of the issues you are having ....than go from there.

nahhh.. why bother .. it's common blowin headgaskets with 61 miles on the motor :p just keep throwing MORE parts at it

I don't know, I guess I'm missing something here. Why did you have an engine built then in less than 100 miles decide you want to go with a stroker? Why not just find out what's up with the engine you have and see how it goes? Money must be burning a hole in your pocket.

I WISH!!
I BOUGHT A CRATE MOTOR. IF I AM HAVING PROBLEMS LIKE THIS NOW..... WHO KNOWS HOW MUCH OTHER STUFF WILL GO WRONG?! I STILL HAVE MY NUMBERS MATCHING BLOCK THAT I AM GONNA HAVE REWORKED.

BACK IN NOVEMBER, I BROKE MY CRANK. I KNEW THAT I WANTED TO EVENTUALLY GO BACK THROUGH IT AND FIND OUT WHAT DIDNT HOLD UP, BESIDES THE CRANK. I DECIDED TO GO THE EASY WAY OUT AND BUY A LONG BLOCK SO I COULD MINIMALIZE MY DOWN TIME. WELL, AT THIS POINT, IM F#CKING HEATED! I PUT A LOT OF TIME AND EFFORT INTO GETTING THAT NEW BLOCK IN. I DID IT ALL BY MYSELF IN MY GARAGE. I FOUGHT WITH THE CAM SENSOR FOR A COUPLE OF WEEKS. THE MOTOR, SINCE I FIRST TURNED IT OVER, GAVE OFF SOME SMOKE. IT JUST KEPT GETTING WORSE.

BY NEXT TUESDAY, I WILL HAVE DROPPED OFF MY BLOCK AT MY BUILDER. I AM GONNA LET HIM DISASSEBLE AND TELL ME WHAT HAPPENED TO IT. :(

Crate motor  You mean like a Jaspers deal from an autoparts store. If so.. there's your problem.

 OMG!!! that is a ton of smoke!! or steam for that matter! Did you pull the valve covers yet and take a peak that noise is very very loud, almost sounds like a whole valve dropped in and did damage!!! that is near a slamming noise! I had a hard time watching this video telling if the car was burning down or not!? That doesnt seem like the normal head gasket failure...

Just a thought, Dan
