new member, few questions

I'm a new member here, this is my first post and i just picked up a 86 GN with 59K original miles I have always had mustangs in the past and i have a few questions about my new car this a totaly new animal to me.

I don't like the fact that the Gn doesn't have any guages in it and want to add a water temp and oil press guage, where is there a place to add a mechanical water temp in the intake?

second thing i'm wondering is are the tps sensors adjustable on these turbo 3.8 engines? or should i just replace it, the car a spot where it stumbles and only does it at one spot when your accelorating

FIRST thing is a scanmaster and to learn how it works. It will give you a digital reading of the coolant tempeature along with the other sensor values via the ECM. It is real easy to blow your headgaskets or even worse if you do the wrong thing with the boost!

Look at your chip. Write the numbers down you see on it and use the search feature of this site....Is it a stock chip? If yes, you need a modern chip.

You don't want to increase boost until you know how to do it without blowing a head gasket. So, wait on that, OK?

Unless your exhaust has holes in it, wait on that too.

Gauges are good. Personally, I've used an audible knock detector instead of a knock gauge....Personal preference.

Gather some information first and then do your first modifications. Your car will do a lot better that way

You should have no problem getting someone to help you in your area, there seems to be lots of buick buffs in that area. lucky you don't live where I do. I get looked at like I'm a damn fool because I rebuilt the TURBO V6 instead of dropping in a 350 or 454. People ask me about my car I say its a Turbo T
WE4, they say "what?":tongue: I say a "grand national" they say "WHat?" THe ones that do know what my car is say its a Regal. My friends know what it is so I let them explain anymore. ANYWAYS, If it wasn't for this site I don't think I would've been able to put mine together. Lots of information on this site and also check out gnttype.org ,there, I said it. Takes a little bit to get used to the navigation but basic tech info, go-fast recipies, and all the TR history and facts is good reading Now if I could only get someone over here to iron out my idle issue .......

cool, I'll have to look into the scan tool, but the first thing i have to do is replace the exhaust it's rusty and leaking, sounds like turd!, by looking at many other post I think i'm gonna go with the hooker kit as soon as I can and have it installed, not sure my neck can take the driveway and jackstand install.
