Let me introduce myself, I live on the east side of minnesnowda, I currently have a 425hp 2008 Evo X, and a 1991 camaro RS project car. I'm looking to get another project car and a GN is top on my list. I prefer cars that need significant work, I prefer to do everything myself. I'm debating between an 85 or 86, and from my understanding they are significantly different, as well as the prices they go for.

I'm looking for a GN that needs some body work, motor work, but i'd like it to be complete, I find it much more rewarding to know that the finished product is all mine, plus I never trust what others say they did to the car. I can do fairly good body work, and any motor work that doesn't require machining.

I'm leaning towards an 85 only becasue I can get them cheaper... but I haven't decided if the 86/87 motor differences is worth the extra costs, any insite would be helpful, don't worry I will search b4 posting moronic threads.

Id be interested to know what a fair price for an 85 and 86 GN that needs some work. I'm not too interested in a type-T.

Welcome to TurboBuick.COM, the biggest & the best of all of the turbo Buick forums.
I would lean towards a '86-'87 as they would worth more down the road when completed. even if you build a '86-'87 out of a hot-air, they don't carry the same street credentials. However, for some really nice hot-air cars, look up Brent, or "Boost231" who generally posts in the Southwestern Section of the forum. He has 1 of the most beautiful hot-air cars, maybe 2, don't remember.

RUN NOW...YOU FOOL, YOU FOOL!!! Ok, just joking. These car are completely different than the "normal" muscle cars. There's a roller HA posted right now that's in need of an engine and tranny in the HA section for $1500. It does need work but I will tell you before you buy do a lot of reading on here as well as turbobucks.com, vortexbuicks, and GN/TType so you get as much info as you can on them.
