I am new to the site and Turbo Regals,
I just bought an Light Blue 87 TR from a GM engineer in Deleware, he performed all the engine work, its 44k mile car will list the mods later but have to go to work to pay for it and then show tonight!!!
PICTURES HERE

Congrats.

www.gnttype.org is the Turbo buick bible. Start reading. Make sure you get a list off all the modifications, so that we can help you when you have problems. Also, make sure you have some sort of scan tool. They keep you from blowing up the car and help you tune it in. It is the first mod every TR should have.

Hey Derek, the car looks great! I really like that colour :)

Another SS and Turbo T owner... COOL!

I trust the SS is stock... time for a turbo 6 in that too ;) :D

Ok thanks for the compliments and making me feel welcomed, these cars are extremly interesting...

As for mods not everything is currently installed, he took of the 3" downpipe to lower the power a little because I am only 17, but it will be going back on later along with a high flow cat....

2 1/2" dual hooker exhaust with dynomax mufflers
rebuilt engine w. intake manifold ported, ported cylinder heads and exhaust valves
heavier springs in the valve train
upgraded camshaft (200/200)
42.5 lb injectors
k&n air filter system
larger fuel pump
rebuilt tranny with hardened internal parts, new clutch plates
torque converter with a 2800 stall speed converter
fuel pump regulator adjustable

Thats most of the major ones I can remember

As far as gauges they are on my list I know I need a boost gauge but what would be another to go along with that,

As far as a scan tool do you mean the scanmaster?? How easy is that to install and what exactly does that do...

O yea I installed the rear seat brace kit too and have the front braces on the way...

Scanmaster - stand alone
Direct Scan and turbolink need a laptop.

The scanmaster gives you a lot of readings from your cars computer and helps you dial it in. It also gives you the codes when the check engine light comes on. The best thing though is that it gives you the amount of knock retard you are getting and showes whether your rich or lean. You have an adjustable fuel regulator, but how do you know whether to turn the fuel pressure up or down if you don't know whether its rich or lean. Knowing if you are getting knock lets you adjust the boost so that you don't blow up the engine.

Boost, fuel pressure, oil and water are guages that every GN should have.

Welcome to the board!

I thought I almost seen my reflection on the firewall! :D

Welcome to the board, and good to see another younger person driving a TR, I'm 19. But most TR drivers never really grow up! ;)

Took another look at the pics.....prev. owner did some nice detailing on the alternator as well - very trick ;)

By the way, I notice that the prev. owner installed a rail mounted fp guage. I suggest that you check it every time you start the car to make sure it's not leaking (from vibration and what not), and carry a fire extinguisher in your car (one of those little stainless race extinguishers will do the job). Also, carry the original schrader valve and rail cap as well as a couple of tools in the car with you just in case you have to remove the gauge and replace it if it springs a leak while driving.

I do the same with mine just because I'm paranoid.

Well, most of y'all have said "nice car", but I'll go further and say that I am drooling!!! That is absolutely gorgeous! It's also one of the rarest colors for an 87 T. And, to top it off, the kid is only 17! I even got more of a laugh outta the fact the seller had removed the 3" downpipe, in order to slow it down a little for him. Per the list of mods, it is still a mid to low 12 second ride. Not too shabby for a first ride in my book!
Anyway, Mr. Tee, I hope you realize what you have, and will take extreme care of it. Please take the time to park it far away in public parking or at school, so that you won't have the doors looking like a washboard in a month. It's worth the effort to walk a little, in order to keep it clean. Do as they mentioned, and read the tech info on gnttype.org as well as this website. You should try to learn everything you can about it, and never be afraid to post a question out here. The group is very willing to help.
Congratulations on your beautiful toy. You should be proud! Oh yeah, and welcome to the group!!!:)

I looked into this car a few months ago when I was shopping for a TR. I talked to the owner for about 45 minutes on the phone about the car. He basically went over that car from front to back.

You guys are right the owner was "meticulous"? about his work and loved to talk about the car...I still keep in contact with him in fact we email back and forth at least once a day and he always answers my questions right away...
The monte carlo was my first car which was good because I got the feel for a G body right away but once I got word about these turbo cars the search began...I recently bought a beater car to keep the regal in the garage because the kids in school are not ones to trust...Some kid clipped the monte last year at school and just took off, and then I got rearended the next week the monte was getting fixed all in the school PArking LOt!!!...

I bought Kirban's guide to 86-7 turbo regals and am almost finished, if anyone has anyother books they'd like to reccommend let me know!
