I agree. It's sounds very "muffled". I thought maybe I put the DVD in or something.

Too much snare drum, and it all sounds the same so far. BUT, I have been disappointed in every Metallica album the first time I listen to it. After a couple of days, they grow on me and I love them. I'm giving this one a few more days before I pass judegment.

($10 at Target. )

I think that was what they were " Trying " to acomplish. That raw, garage sound from like Garage Days 1. First time I heard it thought it just might be something great.........just up to where the vocals started, thing fell flat on its face, horrible. I love old metallica but can honestly say I haven't really cared about anything they have done since In Justice for All. That's when they became Acceptable......Domesticated even

I ordered it anyway (not here yet) - even though the general consensus (here and most everywhere else) is that it sucks. I have nearly everything else they've done, so why not?

I hope it's not as bad as everyone says, but at least my expectations are low.

I heard most of the album the other night at a friends get together, the first 3 songs blow but the 4th and on seem to be decent in beat and could grow on ya after a while but its nothing like they're recent years if thats whatcha like.

i will say that i gave up on them years ago. i mean i went to see them back in 84 for 2 bucks witch was cool but now for 50 plus? no thanks! they can go out with the do-do! i still go to shows like moterhead, agnostic front, casualties whatever and i know they lost there roots(metallica) and i hope they break up soon because i feel embarrassed for them! real corny stuff!

I have to agree with Sam about the snare drum. I was listening to the album with my wife and we were both commenting on how the drum "rings" way too much and overpowers the rest of the music.

I have been a Metallica fan since the beginning, going to over 13 live shows and getting backstage with them several times (5+). I've been VERY disappointed in their efforts since the Black album. St. Anger has some good stuff on it, and if you get a chance to watch the DVD, it makes the music a bit better. The DVD is actually produced A LOT BETTER than the album in my opinion.

Come on guys, they went back to using Pushead for their album drawings!!!

The Unamed Feeling is a very good effort musically. I love watching that song on the DVD. Makes my nipples hard.

I love Metallica and I thought the new one would grow on me, but no matter how many times I listen to it, it still makes me cringe.
The tracking is poor and I have to agree that it sounds like all 4 guys are playing different songs.
This album will probably end up in the same place that the Van Halen 3 album did

It's just "ok"

If I pretend its some other new band that just released a first album then it sounds ok. But if I think of it as Metallica then it sucks. So now I try not to think too much about it and just listen
